Richard Chen See will be teaching the nuances of American Modern Dance with the help of a live musician. The class will comprise of technique, floor work, travelling movements and some repertoires from American Modern Dance Legend Paul Taylor’s original choreography. Richard’s positive approach and open attitude allows students to express themselves fully regardless of their prior training in dance.
About Richard Chen See
Richard Chen See is currently in India as a Fulbright-Nehru Academic and Professional Excellence Fellow to offer educational exchange with dance companies, academies, universities and arts institutions during his time in Mumbai and New Delhi. Mr. Chen See has been staging the dances of the esteemed American choreographer Paul Taylor since 1999, while he was still actively performing for Mr. Taylor, originating and assuming numerous roles from the choreographer’s extensive repertory of works, dating from 1954. He started his performing career in 1979 with Northern Ballet Theatre (Manchester, UK) and went on to dance with companies that include Oakland Ballet (California, USA) and ODC/San Francisco (California, USA), before becoming a featured performer of Paul Taylor Dance Company in New York City from 1993 through 2008. With a background in dance repertoire ranging from classical ballet to experimental modern works, he has danced works created by the some of the most revered choreographers from Europe and the USA. He draws on this breadth of his experience when teaching and coaching dancers to technical excellence, grounded in the artistic intent of a dance or choreographer. When not travelling to stage dances, Mr. Chen See resides in New York City where he teaches ballet and modern dance at conservatories for teenagers and pre-professionals.

Participants must have minimum 6 months training in either modern, contemporary, hip-hop, jazz, ballet or any classical Indian dance forms. Minimum Age 12.
