Many dance artists and lovers are at home due to COVID-19 and are unable to find a way to practise, many are even worried about what lies ahead. So to bring all of their spirits up we at Sumeet Nagdev Dance Arts have planned 12 Live master classes (20th - 25th April) on facebook and instagram and a viewing of our critically acclaimed dance production Dhrut on 26th April 2020 on our youtube channel.
Many facilitators of these online classes are luminaries in their respective fields such as Steve Rooks from USA a former Graham Dancer will teach contemporary dance techniques, Seattle based choreographer Mark Haim will teach Ballet, Mumbai's renowned Pandita Uma Dogra will teach Kathak and of course SNDA staff including Sumeet Nagdev. It wasn't an easy task to manage so many artists within a week but SNDA's anniversary coincides near World Dance Day and with the dancers around the world going through the same situation, we looked at this opportunity to unite and bring to attention that #artmatters and we are in this together.
Ishita Mili, Founder and Artistic Director of IMGE – Ishita Mili Global Expose, USA will be conducting a masterclass on ‘Urban Indian’, a new dance style inspired by the roots of Bharatanatyam, Indian folk, and urban dance used to tell stories. In this workshop, you will learn about the Urban Indian approach to storytelling through dance. You DON’T need both urban and Indian classical dance training. All you need is a desire to learn a different way of thinking about movement and purpose - whether you are a choreographer, a dancer, or an art enthusiast.
Luminario is a contemporary ballet company also presenting classic modern dance repertory and aerial dance. Our dancers live in LA, but come from everywhere, representing the region's diversity and excitement. From 2013-2018, Luminario Ballet artistic director Judith FLEX Helle has been a judge at the World Choreography Awards, and in 2017 and 2018, a judge, lecturer and workshop instructor at the Reno Aerial Dance Fest (RADFest)
